Background

Formed in 1992, Heartbeat, formally known as Wessex Heartbeat, is a well-established charity based in Southampton.

Heartbeat helps babies, children, and adults with congenital and cardiovascular disease, they do this by primarily supporting the Wessex Cardiac Unit at the University Hospital of Southampton.  

Heartbeat not only supports the cardiac unit by providing specialist equipment, facilities, training, and whatever else they might need, but they also fundraise against pioneering projects to improve heart health.  

Heartbeat is passionate about providing the best care and support for not only the patients but their family members too.  

Their team works across the South of England and covers as far as Cornwall, the Midlands, Sussex, and the Channel Islands. They wanted to spread more knowledge about this important cause because “Everyone has a heart”. 

Heartbeat is YLM’s charity of the year. The YLM team is very proud of the partnership we have built with Heartbeat, and we are dedicated to continuing to build on it and keep supporting and raising money for such a worthy cause. 

The Challenge

Before working with Your Lead Machine, the Heartbeat team was very new to LinkedIn and was still learning how it worked.  

They didn’t have much experience using the platform but were working hard to learn the basics. The team felt they needed to get some further help to understand how to use the platform to help grow their page and use it to connect with other professionals on the platform.  

Mark Ind, CEO of Heartbeat, was then introduced to YLM through a mutual contact, who recommended their LinkedIn service. After that, they spoke with our managing director Drew, and discussed LinkedIn and how it can be used to grow the charity further.  

Excellent Results

Since working with YLM, Heartbeat felt that not only has YLM helped to give them a more in-depth knowledge of LinkedIn, but they have also increased the number of people liking and following the Heartbeat page significantly. 

YLM has successfully grown the Heartbeat page by 277 followers within the first 5 months of working together.  YLM has worked closely with Heartbeat to not only improve their messaging and target market but also show them how to do this along the way.

YLM has been a huge help in educating the Heartbeat team throughout the campaign so far and is always happy to answer any questions.  

Heartbeat is happy with how much YLM have grown its connections allowing for hundreds of new people to know who Heartbeat are. The YLM team have also been great at helping support them with their events and how to promote and tailor each post to the relevant target audience.

It has allowed the Heartbeat team to build relationships with the businesses and corporations that attend the events as well.

YLM has kept the Heartbeat team up to date with regular meetings, and weekly reports and given them a complete rundown of who they have had contact with. Heartbeat is very happy with the service they have received and said that they are happy to have built such a strong relationship with the YLM team.  

Heartbeat feels that the team at YLM has helped them to not only improve their outreach strategies but also understand how to do it. They have found that their knowledge has greatly improved on what LinkedIn is, how to use it, and how to approach other professionals on the platform. 

The relationship that Heartbeat and YLM have built together has allowed for a high level of communication. Heartbeat is very happy with the way they have been able to adapt their campaign easily if it’s not working as planned and can have an open conversation with the YLM team on how to approach it going forward.  

Heartbeat is very happy with these results so far and is looking forward to continuing to work with YLM.
